J H Weatherby & Sons Staffordshire Chamber Pot circa 1892 Picture(s) and Description:
Lovely antique Chamber Pot in the "Daisy" pattern, manufactured by JHW & Sons (J H Weatherby & Sons LTD) with a mark from 1892. J H Weatherby & Sons was the Falcon Pottery, Hanley, Staffordshire England. The Daisy pattern is a romantic transfer pattern in burgundy on a white background. The handle has a feather design in burgundy that appears to be handpainted. The base is marked with the JHW & Sons stamp that is is in the form of a flag that has Durabability across one of the stripes, the pattern name Daisy, Hanley and England. There is also a blue stamp of 11. (I believe that when the blue stamping was applied some of it was transferred to the side of pot as there is some blue under the glaze on one side, see picture 8.) Measuring 5 1/8" tall, the pot measures 9 3/4" edge of handle to outer edge, with a top opening of 8 1/2" and a base of 5 3/8". There are no chips or cracks. However, due to its age and use there is some crazing. If you love these old pots for planters or potpourri, this a pretty piece in very good to excellent condition. I have attempted to be accurate and complete in my description and pictures. Should you have any question, please email me. Thanks for looking!
